Buffalo Bayou Cistern: A Huge Reverberant Space Where Echoes Last 17 Seconds March 18, 2019 By Justin Thomas Leave a Comment Buffalo Bayou Cistern is a huge abandoned water reservoir. Inside this space, sounds can create echoes that last up to 17 seconds. This huge structure was built in 1923 in Houston, Texas. It’s a concrete tank roughly the size of one and half football fields. The cistern was damaged by Hurricane Harvey, but it should be repaired soon.
